The 7 Gates of Hell
In Amarillo, TX, there are seven gates traditionally believed to lead to the depths of hell, although locals have never seen them or heard of them before. They are said to be enchanted no matter which way you go and if you enter through one or more, your soul will be trapped for all eternity.
There are stories about people dying and going to hell right after passing through one of the gates, and of people who tried to avoid going through any of the seven during their final moments. People have died trying to escape the gates, and their bodies were ripped apart and sent to hell to be tortured forever.
The seven gates are located all around Amarillo, and as you move further away from the city center, they become more out of the way and difficult to find. They are said to be located in the most distant and desolate parts of the city, at the end of roads that lead nowhere, in the middle of forests that no one has ever seen, and even in the heart of the most deserted buildings.
It is said that the gates were created by a powerful sorcerer from the depths of hell who had been banished there by an ancient god. He built them to trap the souls of anyone who tried to escape his city, his demons, and his cruelty.
Over the years, people have tried to find the gates, trying to figure out which one leads to the underworld. Some have come back as purified souls, free of their fear, regret, and guilt. Others have not returned and have been missed by their loved ones.
The seven gates are still there, still waiting for someone to unlock them, but they are no longer the only danger in Amarillo. People have grown more and more bold, breaking laws with no consequence, and living without any empathy for their fellow humans. Some people still speak of the gates and the possibility of escaping them, but they know that the cost will be too high. The demons have created their own set of gates to trap all who oppose them, and Amarillo is now ruled by fear, pain, and cruelty for eternity.
